East Brook Alumnus Pens Song In Support Of Paramus Crash Victims

Breaking: 'I was very emotional when I wrote it. No one knew what to say when the crash happened,' Christopher Sabo said.

PARAMUS, NJ — Christopher Sabo had to say something. The tragedy was too great and too close to home.

Sabo, an East Brook Middle School alumnus, wrote a song about the school bus crash in memory of the two people killed in the May 17 crash and the 43 others injured.

"My best friend, Stephanie Pallotto, a teacher at East Brook, she was on that bus," Sabo said. "She cares about those kids."

Sabo was heading to Germany the day the crash occurred and had already laid down a piano track for another project. He played the drums in elementary school and while a student at East Brook. He started writing songs after he was diagnosed with Crohn's disease.

"I found the track and it was perfect," said Sabo, 23. "For something like this to happen, when it happened, no one knew what to say. It was very emotional when I wrote the song."

Sabo's song was performed at a candlelight vigil Thursday for the 45 victims. The victims who were killed, teacher Jennifer Williamson-Kennedy and 10-year-old student Miranda Faith Vargas were buried last week.

The song has been heard thousands of times on YouTube. Sabo said he will put it on iTunes so it can be downloaded.

"The support I've gotten from everybody has been amazing," Sabo said.

Sabo is not the only one who recorded a message of support for Paramus. New York Giants quarterback Eli Manning recorded a special message for the community.
