EMS Chief Promotes Three Members

Less than a month after Robert Scheper was promoted to chief in the Borough's Emergency Medical Services (EMS) department, three more EMS members climb the ranks.

During the mayor and council meeting, John Pecoraro, Maria O'Reilly, and Peter Pecoraro, all members of the Paramus Emergency Medical Services (EMS) department, were promoted and sworn in by Mayor Richard LaBarbiera.

John Pecoraro was promoted to the rank of captain, while Maria O’Reilly and Peter Pecoraro were promoted to lieutenant.

LaBarbiera said the three were no strangers to emergency medical services in the Borough.

“For that reason they have been entrusted with these promotions and I know they will do their best as they always have, and continue to provide not just adequate, but the best services that residents of Paramus deserve,” said LaBarbiera.

“I know two weeks ago we swore in a new [EMS] chief,” LaBarbiera added. “With this leadership, I trust they will continue to lead our emergency medical services well into the future.”

Chief Robert Scheper, who was during the June 19 mayor and council meeting, said the three new officers are not only lifelong residents of Paramus, but collectively have about “100 years worth of experience in emergency services”.

“I have three new good officers that are going to help me reenergize EMS and hopefully make it, if not the best, one of the best organizations in town,” said Scheper.
