Juniper Village Celebrates Black History Month with Girl Scouts

Juniper Village at Paramus commemorated Black History Month in a poignant and engaging manner by collaborating with a Brownie Girl Scout Troop from River Edge. The residents and young girls shared a series of enriching activities, including coloring pictures, profound discussions on equality and freedom, and taking turns reading the inspiring children's book "I Am Ruby Bridges."

The book, authored by Ruby Bridges herself, chronicles her remarkable journey as the first Black child to integrate the all-white William Frantz Elementary School in New Orleans, bravely stepping into history at the tender age of six. By delving into Bridges' story, both residents and scouts had the opportunity to reflect on the struggles and triumphs of the Civil Rights Movement.

This intergenerational exchange not only fostered a deeper understanding of the significance of Black History Month but also underscored the importance of unity, empathy, and education in advancing societal progress.
