School Board Interviews Principal Prospects, Laganella Application Continues Top The Week Ahead

Paramus School Board will interview prospects for high school principal, and Planning Board application for a fast-casual restaurant and 15,000 square foot retail space to round out the last week of July.

Paramus School Board kicks off the meeting schedule for the Borough with a search for a new high school principal, while the planning board continues a special meeting on the Laganella application. There will be no Mayor and Council or Board of Adjustment meetings this week.  

MONDAY: After adjourning into closed session to discuss personnel matters and to conduct interviews for the Paramus High School principal position, Paramus school board members could return into public session to take action. Former principal  Borough High School in Ocean County after the Paramus School Board did not renew his contract.  

TUESDAY: Those seeking entertainment for Tuesday evening can head over to the Paramus Bandshell for the free  concert series. The weekly series will kickoff with a performance by world renown vocal group The Happenings featuring Bob Miranda. Their classic songs include "Go Away Little Girl" and "See You In September", "I Got Rhythm", and "My Mammy". The event is sponsored by the Paramus Cultural Arts Council and takes place at the Paramus Bandshell located behind the Main Library, 116 E. WEDNESDAY: Paramus Farmers Market is open for business from 3pm - 7pm and is located at Petruska Park - 475 Farview Avenue, a quarter-mile north of Midland Intersection. (The market is open for business Wednesdays thru September 26th)

Also on Wednesday, the Children’s Summer Concerts series continues with the School of Rock. The event, sponsored by the Friends of the Paramus Public Library and Columbia Bank, will feature performances by students from Paramus and other Bergen County towns. The concert, which starts at 7pm, takes place at the Paramus Library Bandshell located behind the Paramus Public Library, 116 E. Century Road. In case of rain, the concert will be moved indoors. Thursday: The Planning Board application for a fast-casual restaurant and 15,000 square foot retail space located at 770 Route 17 north by Second Paramus Associates, LLC, will continue. When the application was last heard July 19,  to hear the application, delaying the meeting. An absent board member was called to appear so that the hearing could proceed.

SATURDAY: The Bergen County 4-H and Master Gardener Fair is a free family event at Van Saun County Park featuring 4-H and Master Gardener exhibits and displays, science demonstrations, animals, chick hatching, butterflies, interactive activities for children, arts and crafts, food and entertainment from 10a.m-6p.m.

The fair will take place at Van Saun County Park soccer grounds adjacent to the pony rides section. Free parking and admission. For more info call the 4-H office at 201-336-6785. Sponsored by Rutgers Cooperative Extension of Bergen County and the Bergen County Parks Department. Rain date is Sunday, August 5th.
