Love Starbucks's Pumpkin Loaf? Make It Yourself With This Recipe!

Plus some local New Jersey spots where you can find other Fall-themed pumpkin treats.

With Fall now upon us, pumpkin-based dessert ads are shown everywhere you look, or so it seems. While the infamous Pumpkin Spice Latte has made its yearly return, this is not the only pumpkin-flavored treat that Starbucks offers. Available year round, their Pumpkin Loaf is a mainstay for the chain but has a more silent following. If you have never tried it, you should, and if you love it, you might be interested in making it at home for the family (or just yourself, no judgement here.)

That being said, here is a great recipe for baking pumpkin bread similar to the tasty Starbucks dessert as well as a brief list of local places that offer various pumpkin treats beyond just bread.

Pumpkin Bread Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 1 15 oz can of pumpkin
  • 4 eggs
  • ¾ cup of canola oil
  • ½ cup of water
  • 1 ½ cups of white sugar
  • ½ cup of light brown sugar
  • 2 cups of white flour
  • 1 ½ tsp of baking soda
  • ½ tsp of salt
  • 1 tsp of ground nutmeg
  • 1 tsp of ground cinnamon
  • 1 tsp of ground cloves
  • ¼ tsp of ground ginger (exclude for less intense spice)
  • ½ cup of chopped walnuts

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F
  2. Mix flour, baking soda, salt, cinnamon, cloves, nutmeg, and, optionally, ginger into a large bowl.
  3. In a separate bowl, mix eggs (beaten), sugars (sifted), pumpkin, and canola oil.
  4. Combine flower mix into pumpkin mix a little at a time until smooth.
  5. Grease 8 ½”x 4 ½” bread pan with butter and pour batter in.
  6. Sprinkle walnuts on top of the mixture.
  7. Bake for approximately 70 minutes, or until toothpick comes out clean.
  8. Let sit after for approximately 20 minutes.
  9. Enjoy!
