Lunar New Year Celebration at Westfield Garden State Plaza

Westfield Garden State Plaza, a destination for luxury, fashion, dining, and entertainment, will host a free Lunar New Year celebration on Saturday, January 27 from 1:00 pm – 3:00 pm featuring a thrilling dragon lion dance, special live performances, and captivating traditional dances. A holiday celebrated by many Asian communities, Lunar Near Year marks the transition from 2023 - the year of the Rabbit, to 2024 - the year of the Dragon.

“Our Lunar New Year event is filled with cultural richness and vibrant festivities that make it one of my favorite days of the year at our shopping center,” said Wesley Rebisz, senior general manager of Westfield Garden State Plaza. “We look forward to sharing these unique performances from local community organizations with our guests of all ages.”

The traditional Korean, Chinese, and Filipino dances taking place at the Lunar New Year event will be performed by a variety of northern New Jersey schools and organizations, including Asian American Dragon Lion Dance Association, Hea Sun Jung Korean Traditional Dance Academy of NJ, Woorigarak Korean Cultural Arts Center, The Amazing Filipiniana Dance Ensemble of NJ, Hope Sing Dance Art Troupe, and Philippine Nurses Association of NJ, Bergen/Passaic Chapter.

The Lunar New Year celebration will take place in the Family Entertainment Court on Level 1 near Pandora. Upon check-in, attendees will receive a red envelope with special surprises inside, symbolizing good fortune and prosperity. Guests will also be able to create lasting memories with friends and family in an interactive selfie photo opportunity.

Leading up to the Lunar New Year celebration, Westfield Garden State Plaza will host a Gift with Purchase event on January 26 and January 27 to encourage guests to celebrate prosperity in style. During these days, attendees who spend $500 or more at any of the retailers in the shopping center’s luxury collection will be eligible to receive an American Express Gift Card. The Redemption Lounge located on Level 1 near Neiman Marcus will be open from 11:00 am – 6:00 pm.

The luxury collection at Westfield Garden State Plaza includes BOSS, Breitling, Burberry, Ferragamo, Gucci, Louis Vuitton, MCM, Neiman Marcus, Nordstrom, Tiffany, Tumi, Weekend Max Mara and Versace. In addition to the Gift with Purchase promotion, these luxury boutiques will offer exclusive Lunar New Year gifts that accompany select purchases.

The Gift with Purchase reward tiers are as follows:

• Spend $500, receive a $50 gift card
• Spend $1,500, receive a $100 gift card
• Spend $3,000, receive a $200 gift card
• Spend $5,000, receive a $300 gift card
