Fashion Center Set For Facelift

Three-story atrium approved on west side of mall

The entrance to the Fashion Center will receive a face lift, after developers received approval from the Planning Board Thursday to construct a three-story atrium on its west side.

The glass atrium will include two elevators and an escalator from the second to the third floor, and will contain entrances to current tenants Bed Bath and Beyond and , as well as a third, as yet unnamed tenant.

As part of the project, developers will also add 13 parking spaces to the site, engineer John Kotay said.

The board also granted approval to Townhouse Kitchen and Wine Bar, which will take up the space in the across from Ruby Tuesday. The restaurant originally needed a variance for outdoor dining, because the proposed outside seating area was more than 15% of the total floor area, but the applicants changed their plan so they wouldn't need a variance.

Without that, the board only needed to grant variances for two signs, which they did.
