Open Rehearsal for 6th and 7th Graders at the Bergen County Academies!

Bergen County Academies Invites Families to Explore Arts Programs with Special Open Rehearsal of The Drowsy Chaperone Musical

Hackensack, NJ – Bergen County Academies (BCA), renowned for its academic excellence, is proud to showcase the exceptional programs offered through its Academy for Visual and Performing Arts (AVPA). In particular, BCA’s Theatre and Music programs provide students with comprehensive training and unique opportunities for creative growth.
On February 25, 2025, from 5:45-7:00 pm, BCA is inviting local 6th and 7th graders and their families to experience an exclusive open rehearsal of its winter musical, The Drowsy Chaperone. This special event will offer a behind-the-scenes look at the production, including costumes, lighting, sets, and a live orchestra. Attendees will also have the chance to tour the school’s state-of-the-art theatre and music facilities.
BCA’s Theatre program offers a robust curriculum in acting, voice, playwriting, directing, and dance, with additional electives in stage combat, stage makeup, stage management, and costume design. The Music program blends performance with exploration, giving students the chance to master their primary instrument while learning additional instruments, with courses such as AP Music Theory and Musicianship.
“Arts education is a vital part of BCA’s curriculum, helping students develop essential skills such as teamwork, adaptability, and problem-solving,” said Stephen Kaplan, AVPA/Theatre Coordinator. “Our graduates go on to excel in various fields, including the arts, business, medicine, and more, thanks to the creative foundations they build here.”
The open rehearsal event is a wonderful opportunity for prospective students and their families to discover what makes the arts programs at BCA truly special.
