Paramus To Host Annual FUNdraiser Supporting American Cancer Society

April 18, 2022, PARAMUS, NJ – Relay For Life of Paramus, a community event that fundraises for the American Cancer Society (ACS), is excited to announce plans for its 10th annual Relay For Life from 5pm-5am, June 11-12, 2022, on the football field at Paramus High School.

The event plans include celebrating cancer survivors with a special speaker, remembering those who have passed from cancer during a luminaria ceremony, and empowering the community to fight back through awareness and advocacy efforts. Teams will walk the track throughout the twelve-hour event and can join on-site fundraising games and activities, including a trick-tray raffle sponsored by Paramus UNICO.

The community event celebrates the culmination of fundraising throughout the past year. As of press time, over $13,000 towards the event goal of $125,000 has been raised through a combination of corporate sponsorships, personal donations, and team fundraising efforts. Also, as of press time, over 50 local cancer survivors have registered for the event.

“This year’s theme is ‘Through the Decades’ as we celebrate a decade of Relay For Life in Paramus,” explains Erika DiPasquale who founded the event in 2013 and continues as a member of the volunteer Event Leadership Team. “Our theme also celebrates Valley Health System, which has participated in Relay For Life events throughout the past 20 years, as well as recognizing the 100th Anniversary of the Borough of Paramus.”

“The Paramus event is well known throughout ACS for its dedicated Event Leadership Team, and they have an amazing event planned that we look forward to sharing with the Paramus cancer-fighting community,” said Halle Baker, Development Manager at ACS. Baker serves as the ACS Staff Partner for the Relay For Life of Paramus.

Founded in 2013 by a group of students & adults at Paramus High School and held annually in June, the 12-hour event is a fundraiser for the American Cancer Society. Participants celebrate cancer survivors, remember those who have passed due to cancer, and encourage everyone to fight back against cancer. Planned by an all-volunteer committee made up of students, parents, and local community members, it is attended by thousands of local community members each year.
