6 Candidates Vie for 3 Seats on Parsippany School Board

Two incumbents opposed by four challengers with three open seats carrying three-year terms in November vote.

Voters in Parsippany-Troy Hills Township will have a bevy of options when it comes to punching ballots this November for school board candidates.

A 4 p.m. Monday deadline to file petitions to run for a seat on the board was met by six candidates for three seats on the district’s governing body, two of those being incumbents.

Sharif Shamsudin and Susy Golderer both filed for re-election, according to the Morris County Clerk. A third seat is currently vacant and looking to be filled via appointment by the district no later than August.

The congested ballot comes after a reorganizing at the administrative level in the district, with new Superintendent Scott Rixford taking the helm July 1, and the appointment of two new assistant superintendents in July.

The General Election is scheduled for Tuesday, Nov. 4.
