Affordable Housing Fears Brings Unneeded Scorched Earth Development
New Leadership is imperative for Parsippany's and the Region's Future. PILOT Deals, and Over-development, failed rateable chase.
Affordable Housing verses Warehouses, The Principle of Highest Best Use. Rateable Chase Failures.
We are not being lead, We are being misguided.
We are going in the wrong direction for climate mitigation with affordable housing, which is not affordable, and warehouses as a counter against such housing, and a rateable chase. Parsippany is a good example of the long term failure of the tax rateable chase, and overspending for political cronies that sponsor corporate power over community trust, and a sustainable ecology.
Never in the history of democratic societies has the populace been more removed from the decision making process than it is today. Our Collective Global future is being made behind closed doors by trade representatives-appointed officials with the blessing of amorphous, transnational corporations.
Local Politicians that betray their entrusted communities with one aspect thinking of finance short-term thinking must be voted out. Money is their drug of choice, they add and assist financial elites that are beyond any economy.

Already developed lands are available for warehouses, the Beaver Brook watershed is not one such place, nor is Lanidex Plaza 20-30 in Parsippany, in close proximity to. School, Historic Trust Landscape, Lake Parsippany, and the Funeral Home. State Warehouse Guidelines are being brushed aside. (Parsippany is a good location for a warehouse, but not this one, why PILOTs were rushed through; follow the money.)
Tax Breaks are not for you Citizen
By admission the administration is telling us the corporate rateable properties are asking for tax deductions, or relief. It is inevitable we must somehow become frugal or stand to pay more municipal tax for the services and departments, many of which may perhaps justify reforms; much is self-service anyway. No one has to lose a vital job, nor should we need allow corporate developers PILOTs.

Another important aspect of the original American story was frugality. Being frugal was not only an important family and civic activity, but an important religious one as well. I don’t know when the last time I heard the word frugal was. It seems to have been dropped from our lexicon.
Parsippany is now facing the results of the rateable chase
Parsippany set itself up for the affordable housing with it's over development and over dependance on corporate tax rate tables, now rather than face the responsibility, they apply a scorched earth policy to avoid the inevitable. Waterview Mall still stands as the example, of poor leadership by the Barberio administration at the time. When the Housing issue was suspended, (due to Governor Christie's poor leadership, and lack of environment concerns), that was the time to acquire open space, and apply good zoning for the housing responsibility. This was not done.
Politicians who depend on their campaign finances through corporate donations, betray the community, their constituents are not the entrusted covenant of neighborhood character, but the Corporate donor.
Warehouses like Housing are Regional Issues
Simply in the two cases mentioned above a warehouse in the Beaver Brook Watershed in Rockaway, and the Parsippany Lanidex 20-30, near a school, funeral home, Historic Trust Property, and Lake Parsippany, how could the Highest Best Interest be warehouses? We seemingly are about to over-development warehouses like we did office space, and malls?
The leadership should of began when Christie gave the Housing away to the Market Real Estate Barons. There was little resistance in making sure the need for housing was actually affordable, and that ecological and environmental sense was mandatory on all levels. We can not continue to build; but lower the rents and fill the vacant spaces. Sensitive landscapes must and can be protected. Continued growth is unsustainable, economy can not exist in a vacuum outside the laws of nature.
When property becomes the enemy of community, and nature, what good is home rule?
Parsippany Boards and official are lacking in ecological/environmental knowledge and enforcements, especially stormwater rules, and actual landscape characters that should be maintained in situ. Replacing old and maturing trees is not like changing light bulbs.
Outdated Ideas of Property need to reform
The concept of property was based on a falsehood to justify possession of the land. John Locke's principle was that god did not make matter intelligent, but that man could make it moral. Lock's principal of property was dominate in Europe, and Early America, that property was sacred, but sacred in its possession by a proprietor, this justified the theft of the land and the demise of the common.
We find that land, nature, life itself does have an intelligence of underlying unity and the power of self organization, that man can never equal, but only injure or destroy. Nature is how we got here, our sustainer.
Parsippany requires new leadership, this leadership is now being shown in Councilwoman Hernandez, and Councilman Musella.
