Brooklawn Middle School Student to Represent Parsippany at State Geography Bee
Alex Zhang will join 100 peers from New Jersey for a shot at a $50,000 college scholarship.

Approximately 100 students from around the state will compete in the National Geographic Bee on March 27 at Rowan University, and two of them hale from Parsippany middle schools.
Patch recently announced that Sajal Murthy of Central Middle School was selected to compete in the competition, and now she’ll be joined by her Brooklawn Middle School counterpart Alex Zhang.
Zhang, who won the competition at Brooklawn in January, took a written test and earned his spot in the state tournament.

Just like Murthy, Zhang now has a chance at a $50,000 college scholarship. The winner of the state competition will receive $100, a “National Geographic Atlas of the World, 10th Edition,” medal, and the most coveted prize, a trip to Washington, D.C. to represent New Jersey in the National Geographic Bee Championship from May 11 to May 13.
The overall competition winner will receive the scholarship and an all-expenses paid trip to the Galapagos Islands.
