The Emmy-nominated SNL writer will be returning to the same city where his comedy career began.

PARSIPPANY, NJ — A Parsippany native with quite the funny bone is returning to his New Jersey roots for his newest tour.
Nimesh Patel, an Emmy-nominated comedy writer, recently announced his newest project: the “With All Due Respect” tour.
Patel was born and raised in Parsippany in 1986, where he would go on to graduate from Parsippany-Troy Hills High School in 2004. The comedian enrolled at New York University as a pre-med student before changing majors and graduating with a finance degree in 2008.

Patel would soft-launch another career change after graduating, doing stand-up comedy at The Stress Factory in New Brunswick. After he was discovered by famed comedian Chris Rock, he was hired to write for the 88th Academy Awards ceremony, hosted by Rock.
Patel would continue to make a name for himself in the comedy industry, working with the likes of Seth Meyers, Kevin Hart, and Hasan Minhaj.

It was in 2017 when Patel started working for Saturday Night Live, mostly writing jokes for the skit show’s “Weekend Update” segment. A year later, his work with SNL would land him an Emmy nomination for Outstanding Writing for a Variety Series.
Patel’s “With All Due Respect” tour is coming to dozens of cities across the country, including New Brunswick, where his comedy career launched. Patel says some of the new material will make its way to a Netflix special, but it's not clear yet which venue it will be recorded.
The show will be held at State Theatre New Jersey on April 10 at 7:30 p.m. Tickets to the show are available online here.
