Crossing Guard Hit By Car, Hospitalized In Parsippany
The on-duty crossing guard suffered "serious injuries" from the impact, authorities said.
PARSIPPANY, NJ — A Parsippany crossing guard was hospitalized after being hit by a car last week, according to police.
On Thursday, around 3:30 p.m., police were called to the area of Vail Road and Redstone Drive on a report of a collision.
Authorities found that on-duty Parsippany school crossing guard, Denise Rocco, had been struck by a car while trying to stop traffic at a marked crosswalk.

Rocco was rushed to the Morristown Medical Center for treatment. She suffered "serious injuries" from the crash and was still hospitalized as of Monday, police said.
The driver, David Brown, 53, of Lake Hiawatha, remained on the scene and cooperated with the investigation, authorities said.

Brown is charged with failure to stop for a school crossing guard, failure to yield to a pedestrian in a marked crosswalk, and careless driving.
