'Defiant' Man Arrested After Smith Road Standoff: Parsippany PD
Jesus Quintela had two outstanding warrants for his arrest, police said.
PARSIPPANY, NJ — A welfare check on a wanted man led to an eight hour standoff and arrest on Tuesday night, according to Parsippany Police Sergeant Brian Conover.
Jesus Quintela, 40, is being housed in the Morris County Correctional Facility after his arrest. No weapons were recovered from the scene and no injuries were reported, police said
A family member contacted authorities concerned about Quintela contacted police shortly after 4 p.m. on Tuesday and asked them for a welfare check, police said. Officers were told Quintela may be in possession of a firearm and had two active warrants for his arrest, police said.

Upon arrival, officers attempted to make contact with Quintela and said he exhibited defiant behavior. After multiple attempts to get Quintela to come to the door the officers pulled back from the residence for their safety and established a perimeter, police said.
Shortly after 8:30 p.m. members of the Morris County Sheriff’s Office Sheriff’s Emergency Response Team (SERT) attempted to make contact with Quintela. Ultimately, SERT members were able to make entry into the home at approximately 1:10 a.m. and take Quintela into custody, police said.

Quintela is in the Morris County Correctional Facility due to his active warrants, police said.
