Kindergartener Accidentally Put On School Bus, Walks To Morris County Home Alone

The five-year-old girl walked home alone after accidentally being placed on a bus she had never taken, according to a report.

ROCKAWAY, NJ — After an administrative mix-up, a Rockaway kindergartener was accidentally placed on a bus she'd never taken, forcing her to walk home alone, her parents told NorthJersey.com.

The girl, a kindergartener at Dennis B. O'Brein Elementar School, usually goes to aftercare. A mix-up with the bussing list accidentally landed Waleska and Zachary Falls' daughter on a bus she had never taken.

She was dropped off at a bus stop with no parents waiting for her, the report said, forcing her to walk home alone. Rockaway Township's police is not to drop kindergarteners off unless a parent or guardian is there to pick them up.

“My daughter could have been abducted, hit by a car, lost forever, and the adults that failed to protect her walk away with a letter in their files at most,” mother Waleska Falls told northjersey.com.

Dennis B. O'Brien Elementary School's Principal Chris Marangon apologized to the parents, the report said. Marangon said he discussed the issue with the teacher as well.
