Knoll Golf Controversy Fact or Fiction?
How could a change in Management at a Golf Course suddenly cause Golfers not to come? Could it be other factors, or just hype?
Knoll Golf Controversy Fact or Fiction
Why can't we get an article on all the controversy being created or trumped up on the new management there? Is the attendance really down on the Knoll due to Kemper Sports? It appears to me last season(s) rain is the main reason. Why would golfers suddenly not show because of Kemper? Is there actual numbers of players and records that correspond to weather phenomena.
The contention being that if Kemper goes Knoll will suddenly rise into the red, to me is absurd.
No credit for the Knoll's additional Green Initiative of expansion of plastic bans or its improved attempt at material source separation/recycling, by Kemper has been given.
The most non transparent element still eludes Parsippany Residents, how exactly does the Knoll Golf Utility income compare to it's costs and how does this money benefit the average taxpayer? Saying it's a separate self-sustaining utility is not enough. As a utility it is closed in its meetings and suggestions to the public. It is for golfers, not the public, and the public may use its Green Acres during winter season only for walks or sleighing. It's surrounding River Sensitive Area is a dumping ground for trash and is always littered, with no concerns by the police or the Utility as a work practice in relation to its River Sensitive Landscape aspect.

A golf course being acquired with State Green Acres funds could not occur today for obvious reasons. To allege it is a public utility is also contentious. It appears to have become a political not a public tool, and this is wrong. The public is virtually shut out of the landscapes management policies; yet now suddenly Kemper's Management has brought grievances to Council. Where is the actual proof, based on what?
Under now new criteria for Open Space initiatives perhaps knoll golf should be surrendered to be returned to a reforestation community ecology project for Parsippany's entire population, this would be more in keeping with the actual crisis of environment for our time, and benefit all of us.. Knoll has become a private political utility, not a public green acre landscape for all; are there not enough golf courses and too little fields of nature. In my opinion Knoll despite its Golf is still first and foremost a landscape. Hopefully it will be part of our new ERI; Environmental Resource Inventory, with more of a public allowance in its management in sound environmental friendly ways.
