No Charges For Man Involved In Parsippany Bus Stop Incident: Cops

Police found the man from the 'suspicious' incident but determined no criminal offense occurred.

PARSIPPANY, NJ — A man involved in a "suspicious" incident at a Parsippany school bus stop will not be charged, police said Wednesday. Authorities determined that no criminal offense occurred.

A driver traveled by a girl who was standing alone at her school bus stop in the Intervale area Tuesday morning, according to police. He turned around, stopped near her, called her "pretty" and then left, authorities said. Read more: 'Suspicious Incident' At Parsippany School Bus Stop: Police

Parsippany Police located the vehicle and the driver Wednesday morning. After questioning the man about the incident and his intent, authorities determined that no crime took place.

School Superintendent Dr. Barbara Sargent gave parents instructions Tuesday on any incidents in which their children confront strangers.

"We urge you to be vigilant in making your children wary of strangers," Sargent said. "Please let them know to tell an adult immediately if an incident occurs and to try to get a license number if at all possible. Any incident needs to be reported immediately to a responsible adult and the police should always be notified."
