One Dead In Early Morning Parsippany Fire

A 64-year-old man died at a nearby hospital.

PARSIPPANY, NJ— An early morning apartment building fire left one dead on Wednesday, Parsippany Police said.

Multiple neighbors called 911 around 4:15 a.m to report a structure fire at the Colonial Heights Apartment complex on Parsippany Road.

Most of the apartments were evacuated safely, except for one. A 64-year-old man was taken to Saint Clare's Hospital, where he died from his injuries. His name was not released.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation by town and county fire officials.

The Red Cross is in the process of helping the displaced residents find other accommodations.

Parsippany Police Officers, Parsippany Troy Hills Fire Department, Lake Parsippany Fire Department, Mount Tabor Fire Department, Lake Hiawatha Fire Department, Parsippany Rescue and Recovery, Par-Troy EMS, Parsippany Volunteer Ambulance, Rockaway Neck First Aid Squad, and Saint Clare's Hospital BLS all responded to the scene.
