Parsippany Hills Student's Service Project Helps Library

Aryan Masaldan, a senior at Parsippany Hills High School and member of the National Honor Society, used his love of reading as inspiration for a service project. Scouring his school and neighborhood, he collected 12 boxes of books - over 600 in total - to donate to the Friends of the Parsippany Library.

Aryan said he chose this service project because, throughout his life, he has read many library books for education and pleasure, and so he looked for an opportunity that would somehow give back to the library for all it had provided him. With the help of his dad, he collected donations from both his school and his community.

Peg Miesnik, Co-President of the Friends, thanked him for the large donation.

“Aryan’s efforts benefit both the library and the community. The Friends group will sell these donated items in the Little Nook book store and also at the book bag sales that they hold several times a year.”

The Friends donate all proceeds from these sales to the library to support their projects and programs. They welcome any donations from the community throughout the year. Books can be dropped off at the Main Library at 449 Halsey Rd. in Parsippany.
