Police Warn Against Phony Phone Fundraiser Invoking PAL Name

The real PAL isn't doing phone fundraising right now, its director says.

If you receive a phone call asking you to donate to the , do not give the caller your money or private information. That warning comes from the , which says a scam campaign targeting area residents may be underway.

Parsippany Police spokesperson Ptlm. Earl Kinsey told Patch that he saw a complaint about "aggressive donation requests" for PAL appear on the PPD Facebook page. Looking for answers, he went to the director of the athletic league.

"I contacted Tony Bonavitacola who informed me that they are not currently soliciting donations for the Parsippany PAL," Kinsey said. "He is looking into the incident."

In the meantime, the police and the PAL say that if someone calls and asks for a donation for the Police Athletic League, disregard the call. Then, let the authorities know. You can reach Parsippany Police at 973-263-4300.
