The boys and girls track team went to Madison Dodgertown Relays looking to improve on their 1st week performance and with perfect spring-time temperatures the Red Hawks were on fire both on and off the track! The Red Hawks took down several meet records and had season best performances as well. With some athletes still nursing injuries and some away on spring break vacation other members of the team stepped up and performed outstanding.
- In the Girls 4x100m Shuttle hurdles, the relay of Kelly Higinbotham, Michelle Herrera, Nicole Herrera and Jen Mlynar placed 5th in 1:12.32
- In the 4x100m the Girls and Boys teams took 1st place! The Girls ran 51.96 with a team of Salena LeDonne, Meghan Wisniewski, Gabby Rachmaciej and Bria Saunders. The Boys ran 44.69 with Sheldon Ealy, Josh Crawford, Kwaku Agyemang and Anderson Olave.
- In the Boys 4x800m, the relay of Amogh Karwar, Jonathan Ho, Ronald Tudorache and Steven Patracuolla ran 8:57.69 and finished 6th overall.
- The 1600m Sprint Medley Relay boasted top finishes by both teams. The Girls relay of Bria Saunders, Salena LeDonne, Jen Mlynar and Samantha Pignatelli finished 1st in 4:26.38 while the boys relay of Peter Henandez, Josh Crawford, Anderson Olave and Malik Francis finished 4th in 3:47.54.
- The Boys 4x200m of Crawford, Olave, Francis and Ealy crossed the finished line with a new meet record of 1:32.29! The previous meet record was 1:33.11 set last year by Montville. Not to be outdone, the JV Boys relay of Kwaku Agyemang, Antonio Ybanez, Matthew Ruggiero and Ricardo Rivera set a new meet record of 1:37.76! The previous record was 1:39.60 set in 2008.
- In the last running event of the day, the Boys 4x400m relay of David Patracuolla, Sheldon Ealy, Antonio Ybanez and Christian Hulse-Carr finished 3rd in 3:40.08. After watching the Boys relay break several meet records, the Girls 4x400m decided it was their turn. The relay of Mlynar, Saunders, Wisniewski and Nicole Herrera ran a season best of 4:06.37 and a new meet record! The previous meet record of 4:07.40 was set in 2011. Prior to race, Nicole was told she had to run a 65 split. Nicole was worried because she never ran that fast before. When Nicole crossed the finished line with the lead intact and with a new meet record she learned that she ran a 63 split. When Bria asked her how she did it, Nicole admitted she ran scared the entire race. Way to go Nicole!!!
In the fields,
- a 4th place finish by the Girls Discus Throw Relay of Kathryn Campbell, Donna Herbst and Emily Fales. Kathryn threw 88-00, Donna 75-06 and Emily 60-00.
- the Girls Javelin relay of Kathryn Campbell and Donna Herbst finished in 3rd place. Kathryn mark was 109-00 and Donna mark was 92-11.
- the Boys Triple jump took 6th place. Newcomer Nicholas jumped 35-01.75 and Sheldon Ealy jumped 33-00.00.
- in the Javelin, Dan Campbell’s mark of 169-07 and Michael Ludwig’s mark of 133-09 was good enough for 3rd place.
