Red Hawks gets in the holiday spirit at the Gardiner Holiday Relays

The 29th Annual Wayne Gardiner Holiday Relays was filled with drama on and off the track. 

 

On the track the Red Hawks ran well and were able to earn top place finishes in several events but off the track the coaches had to manage through a headache, vomit, ice bag massages and multiple confidence issues.  Thankfully, Coach Bleuler, Coach DeGironimo and Coach Smith were able to persevere and get their athletes' focus back on the track.

For the Boys, the 800 meter relay of Josh Crawford, Malik Francis, Christian Hulse-Carr and Aaron Wood finished 3rd in a time of 1:39.94 while in the Junior Varsity 800 meter relay, the team of Matthew Quigley, John Aza, Matthew Ruggiero and Antonio Ybanes finished 5th in 1:47.62. In the Boys final event of the day, the 1600 meter relay of Francis, Crawford, Hulse-Carr and Wood finished 5th in a time of 3:43.48.

On the Girls side, the Distance Medley of Haley Pignatelli, Kati Hsu, Ally Schlosser and Samantha Pignatelli finished 5th in a time of 13:32.19. The 1600 Sprint Medley of Bria Saunders, Gabby Rachmaciej, Michelle Herrera and Jennifer Mlynar finished 4th in a time of 4:37.51.  With the highlight of the day, the 1600 meter relay of Saunders, Angulo, Mlynar and Rachmaciej finished 1st with a winning time of 4:24.17 and the JV 4x400 meter relay of Haley Pignatelli, Nicole Herrera, Michelle Herrera and Meghan Wisniewski finished 1st with a winning time of 4:39.99.  

 

For the field events, Emily Fales who led the JV Shot Put with the longest mark of 28-08.50 and help from Aimee Piccinich’s mark of 19-08.25 earned a 3rd place relay team finish.
