Tornado Warning In Northern New Jersey
Breaking: The National Weather Service has issued a tornado warning in Morris, Warren, Sussex, Hudson, Union, and Essex Counties.

MORRIS, NJ — A tornado warning has been issued for most of northern New Jersey, the National Weather Service has advised, and residents are advised to take cover immediately.
The warning is in effect in Morris, Warren and Sussex Counties, through 9 p.m. on Tuesday, May 28.

UPDATE, 10:24 p.m.: Most weather warnings, including for tornadoes and thunderstorms, have been cancelled as of 10:24 p.m. A flood advisory remains in effect for southern Morris County and northeastern Somerset County, and Hudson, Passaic, Union, Bergen, and Essex Counties.
Anyone in the affected towns, listed below, should take the following precautions, the NWS says:

Move to a basement or an interior room on the lowest floor of a sturdy building. Avoid windows. If you are outdoors, in a mobile home, or in a vehicle, move to the closest substantial shelter and protect yourself from flying debris.
The following towns are named in the NWS warning for Morris, Essex and Sussex:
Morristown, Dover, Madison, Hopatcong, Florham Park, East Hanover, Chatham, Wharton, Rockaway, Morris Plains, Mount Arlington, Mendham, Mountain Lakes, Stanhope, Netcong, Victory Gardens, Succasunna, Succasunna-Kenvil, Parsippany and Budd Lake.
The NWS has provided the following timeline for Essex, Husdon, and Union counties:
- Orange and Union around 910 PM EDT.
- Newark and Linden around 915 PM EDT.
- Elizabeth around 920 PM EDT.
As of 9 p.m., a thunder storm capable of producing a tornado was located over Chatham, and was moving southeast at 35 miles per hour. Hail about the size of a half dollar is possible, as are flying debris from high winds.
A funnel cloud was spotted in Mendham around 8:55 p.m., NBC 4 reported.
