Watch: Sherrill Holds First Congressional Town Hall

PARSIPPANY, NJ — Congresswoman Mikie Sherrill held her first town hall over the weekend in front of a standing-room only hall in Parsippany.
The town hall was live streamed on her official Facebook page, and lasted about two hours. She recapped her first few weeks in office, including joining House Arms Services Committee, the Science, Space and Technology Committee and the Subcommittee on Energy, the Blue Dogs caucus, and being elected the freshman whip.
"A key part of our democracy is having a marketplace of ideas, open forums where people with diverse viewpoints can be heard and treated with respect," Sherrill said in a statement on Monday. "I'm so proud to serve a district where people take those values seriously, and grateful to all the residents who took part in our town hall meeting."
It was generally non confrontational meeting, with attendees asking about a variety of national and international issues in a question and answer session.
Originally scheduled for the previous week, Sherrill pushed the town hall back after a congressional recess was canceled during the shutdown.
Her next "Monday with Mikie" meeting, informal gatherings to meet with and talk to the congresswoman, will be held on Monday, February 4, from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at the Woodland Park Municipal Building.
