The investigation continues into a fatal bus crash on I-80 that killed a student and teacher from a Paramus middle school Thursday morning. A big question looms: What caused the crash that turned a fun fifth-grade field trip into a horrific nightmare in mere seconds?
Police have said the crash involved a dump truck and happened near Exit 25 in Mount Olive around 10:20 a.m. New revelations indicate the driver may have attempted an illegal u-turn in an effort to get to Waterloo Village, the field trip's planned destination.
Of the 45 people on the bus, 43 were injured and taken to nearby hospitals. Many were in critical condition as of Thursday afternoon. Also last night, the identity of the teacher who died in the crash was revealed.
