Paramus District Cancels Trips Following Fatal Crash
PARCC testing scheduled for Friday and Monday was also cancelled, as were evening activities Thursday and Friday.

PARAMUS, NJ — The Public School District has cancelled all remaining trips this year following a fatal crash where two people died and more than 40 were injured, authorities reported.
A teacher and a student from East Brook Middle School died after the school bus they were in collided with a dump truck on Interstate 80 Thursday morning.
The three buses of students were on their way to Waterloo Village when the crash occurred in Mount Olive, Paramus school officials confirmed in a statement Thursday afternoon.

Students are being treated at Morristown Medical Center, St. Joseph's Hospital, and Hackettstown Medical Center, officials said.
The district thanked the Paramus community for their support during "this very difficult time."

"Our hearts go out to the families of our students, staff, and community members," officials said in a Facebook post. "We also thank the first responders who did a tremendous job."
Crisis counselors will be at every district building to assist children and staff.
All evening activities scheduled for Thursday and Friday were cancelled.
Paramus schools will be open Friday, but PARCC testing will not take place. Testing scheduled for Monday was also cancelled, the district said.
People on Twitter used the hashtag #ParamusStrong to show their support for the district Thursday.
