Watch Live: Gov. Murphy Press Conference On Fatal Bus Crash
BREAKING: Gov. Murphy is expected to hold a press conference when he arrives at East Brook Middle School in Paramus.
PARAMUS, NJ — Gov. Phil Murphy held a press conference on the I-80 bus crash involving students from East Brook Middle School in Paramus, confirming that two people have been killed.
Murphy confirmed one student and one teacher were killed in the I-80 crash Thursday morning, but declined to provide their names, citing the ongoing investigation. He said 43 of the 45 people on board were taken to hospitals for treatment. Click here for live updates.
The fifth grade students were on their way to Waterloo Village for a scheduled field trip. The scene of the crash is only a few miles away from the Village.

"They came this morning to educate and to learn," Bergen County executor Jim Tedesco said at a press conference, his voice breaking. "This community has been strong it will continue to be strong it will come together and support the entire ed community."
He later added, "Go home, and you say how much you love [your children] and give them a kiss, because there are people that tonight are struggling to be able to do that and in some cases not able to."

Classes will be in session at the middle school tomorrow, and crisis counselors will be available for students who need them. Field trips have been cancelled through the end of the year.
Tedesco said that the crash was affecting the entire community, and crisis counseling was available for students.
