FREE Orchestral NJIO Concert on November 2nd

NJIO Begins Season with FREE Concert on November 2nd!

New Jersey Intergenerational Orchestra (NJIO) will present its first concert of its 32nd Season, “Natural Spirits,” on November 2nd at 3 pm at Crescent Avenue Presbyterian Church in Plainfield. Three of NJIO’s ensembles will perform at this Fall Concert.

NJIO’s concert season carries the theme “Get Into the Spirit!”, highlighting the natural spirit, the holiday spirit, the human spirit, and the national spirit. Each program is designed to draw people together around a shared experience of beauty and hope.

The concert is FREE and open to the public, with a relaxed concert atmosphere. At our Concert Comfort Station, located in the concert lobby, audience members can borrow items to make their concert-going experience more comfortable, including additional cushions, fidget toys, coloring pages and crayons, and large print program books.

The Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Artistic Director Warren Cohen, will perform with the winner of our annual Young Artist Concerto Competition (sponsored by NJIO’s community partner, Elefante Music). Marcus Chong-Wah Wong, a 9th grade violinist from Edgewater, NJ, will perform Vieuxtemps Violin Concerto No. 5.

NJIO’s Intermezzo Orchestra, also conducted by Warren Cohen, will perform two of Dvorak’s Slavonik Dances, and Purcell’s Gordian Knot Untied.

Prelude Ensemble, NJIO’s entry level ensemble, conducted by Elizabeth Maliszewski, will open the concert.
