3 Rescued From Sinking Boat Off Jersey Shore
The 74-foot boat was partially submerged and broke into two pieces while the Coast Guard was helping those on board, authorities said.

OFF MANASQUAN INLET, NJ — Three people were rescued early Saturday when their boat sank about 4.5 miles offshore, the U.S. Coast Guard said.
The 74-foot boat was rapidly taking on water about 4.5 miles northeast of Shark River Inlet when the distress call went out shortly before 4 a.m. Saturday, the Coast Guard said.
A 47-foot motor lifeboat crew from Coast Guard Station Manasquan Inlet and a MH-65 Dolphin helicopter crew from Air Station Atlantic City responded and the three people were transferred from the boat, which was partially submerged when rescuers arrived, to the Coast Guard boat, the Coast Guard said.

"The vessel eventually broke into two parts," the Coast Guard said in a Facebook post about the incident.
The three people were transferred to emergency services waiting at Manasquan Inlet. There was no word on injuries.

Coast Guard pollution responders are working with other agencies on a salvage plan for the boat, authorities said.
The cause of the sinking is under investigation.
