'Division' In Point Pleasant Beach May Be Addressed At Meeting

POINT PLEASANT BEACH – Recent accusations regarding public "cursing" and "division" may be addressed at the Point Pleasant Beach Council meeting on Tuesday.

Some are demanding that Councilman Bob Santanello resign, accusing him of cursing directly at two residents during a recent recreation meeting.

"If Bob were to do the right thing, he would sincerely apologize at tonight’s council meeting and present a letter of resignation from both the rec committee and his council seat," said resident Michael Pfeifer.

Efforts to reach Santanello were not immediately successful. But Mayor Stephen Reid said he did hear that there "were words" at the meeting.

Reid suggested that recent divisiveness in the town may be the root cause of the heated language, adding tht Pfeifer was not allowed to be a head coach for a year for allegedly displaying similar behavior – an accusation that Pfeifer denies.

"I believe there’s two sides to the story," Reid said. "Yes, there is a division in this town and people are acting out their anger on both sides."
