Point Beach Endangered Birds Move Fireworks, Beachgoers (UPDATE)
UPDATE: Endangered birds are nesting on Jenkinson's Beach, forcing the Thursday fireworks to move and beachgoers to find a new spot.

Endangered birds are nesting on Jenkinson's Beach, forcing the Thursday fireworks to move and beachgoers to find a new spot away from the birds.
About 150 pairs of nesting birds set up at Jenkinson's Inlet Beach in recent weeks, forcing the fireworks display on the northern beaches to move about a mile south near Risden's Beach, officials said.
The staff at Jenkinson's Aquarium says it is doing a daily watch over the area since terns and oystercatchers have hatched while skimmers remain on their eggs. Those eggs should hatch in a few weeks.

The nesting location is very unusual, she told The Press. "The thing that’s even more unusual about it is that they’re being successful."
