MATAWAN, NJ – From a young age, teaching wasn’t just a dream for me—it was my calling. I spent my childhood setting up a makeshift classroom in my basement, eagerly “teaching” imaginary students. Weekends were filled with trips to Becker’s Teacher Store with my dad, where I’d browse supplies as if I were already preparing my future classroom. Now, that lifelong passion has led me to Matawan-Aberdeen Middle School, where I have the privilege of teaching 6th-grade special education students in Language Arts.
This year, I have the incredible honor of being nominated for America’s Favorite Teacher, a nationwide contest celebrating educators who go above and beyond for their students. The winner is determined by public vote, and with your support, I could take home this amazing title!
A Passion for Teaching & Learning
I grew up in Brick, NJ, and now reside in Point Pleasant, but my journey as an educator has taken me through some incredible experiences. I attended Georgian Court University, where I was an active member of the women’s soccer team. In 2016, my team won a state championship, a moment that solidified the values of hard work, discipline, and teamwork—values that now shape my approach to teaching. Just as soccer taught me the power of perseverance and collaboration, I strive to instill the same lessons in my students every day.
Recently, I furthered my commitment to education by earning my Master’s in Educational Leadership from the American College of Education. I believe that great teachers never stop learning, and I’m always looking for new ways to support my students and help them succeed.
