Wet Weekend Ahead In New Jersey

New Jersey could finish the week with some ugly weather this weekend

New Jersey could finish the week with some ugly weather this weekend that could impact that your local sports events, or maybe even that long planned-out drive to the beach.

Some bad storms in the South are expected to clip the southern part of the state, as well as the Jersey Shore. But the northern and central areas of New Jersey could feel a little bit of those effects, too, forecasters say. The worst day, actually, could be Monday, when showers are most likely.

The bad weather already impacted New Jersey on Friday, and some thunderstorms could also come to the state by the day's end.

“This area of rain and thunderstorms could lead to slower commute times,” AccuWeather Meteorologist Kyle Brown said in a news release.

The wet weather will water lawns and blooming gardens and help alleviate the patchy drought conditions that remain from the mid-Atlantic to southeastern New England, according to AccuWeather.

However, the rain could be soaking enough to delay outdoor events and cause minor delays for travelers across the region.

The National Weather Service has not yet issued an alert, but the agency says rain will be particularly intense in some areas on Sunday.
