Woman Rescued From Route 88 Bridge In Point Pleasant Boro

This was the second incident over the past week on the same bridge.

Point Pleasant Boro police rescued a woman from the Route 88 bridge on Monday.

The incident happened at 8:06 pm. when an off-duty Point Pleasant Police K-9 officer, Travis Popiel, observed the woman stopped at the top off the Route 88 Bridge.

Popiel stopped to see if the woman needed assistance when the female started to climb over the railing. Popiel exited his vehicle and was able to grab the female off the railing and pull her to safety, police said.

The 38-year-old female from Howell was transported to Ocean Medical Center in Brick for further evaluation.
