Call for Proposals: #LEADLIKEAGIRL 2020 at Stuart

Open to young women in high school, educators and experts

Stuart Country Day School of the Sacred Heart, recognized for its bold and innovative approach to all-girls education, is seeking proposals from young women in high school, educators and experts for the fourth annual #LEADLIKEAGIRL: A Conference for Risk-Takers and Changemakers. The 2020 conference will take place on Saturday, April 4, 2020. Proposals for the Business Fair, STEM Talks, workshops, presentations, and panel discussions must be submitted by Monday, January 6, 2020. Cash prizes totaling $10,000 will be awarded to young women in high school.

#LEADLIKEAGIRL is a free conference designed to showcase and inspire girls’ confidence and creativity in STEM, entrepreneurism and leadership. In just two years, Stuart has hosted nearly 2,000 K-12 students, parents, educators, and mentors on campus from across the country. The conference is presented by The National Center for Girls’ Leadership at Stuart.

In July, 2018, Stuart was honored with the prestigious international CASE Circle of Excellence Award for #LEADLIKEAGIRL. A panel of experts selected Stuart’s entry in the Single Day Event category from among 71 entries. Other winners in this category included Clemson University, University of Miami, Duke University, and University of Southern California.

The school is excited to announce that the three keynote speakers for #LEADLIKEAGIRL will be Rachel Lears ‘95, documentary filmmaker and director of Knock Down the House; Dr. Deborah Berebichez, a physicist, TV host and data scientist; and Tiara Little ‘11, a Netflix Animation production manager.

Applicants can submit a proposal for more than one project or category, however high school students may not compete in both the Business Fair and the STEM Talks. Each proposal requires a separate form and must be 300 words in length. Examples of past sessions include “Using Virtual Reality to Empathize with Vision Disabilities,” “Make Your Own Cleanser & Lotion with product experts from Johnson & Johnson,” “Dream Big - Start Your Own Non-Profit,” “Girls Can Do Anything! Overcoming Gender and Unconscious Bias,” and “Women in Business - Paths to Success Panel.”
