2020 CENSUS STATEMENT & QUESTION:
Find out what's happening in Princetonfor free with the latest updates from Patch.
In 2016, President Barack Obama signed a law to modernize a couple of 1970s era laws by replacing “Negro” with “African American”. What actionable steps are being taken by NJ Complete Count Commission and/or the Cities to inform the residents that this 2020 Census provides definitions for the Race Class categories that persons may identify by their national origin and not names that delude to slavery, such as Negro or it’s replacement, African American? Please note that this question merits are based on the pass Census policies that instructed enumerators to report entries such as Negro, Black or African American, colored, slave and Mulatto based on observation of ones skin complexion. It’s further important to note that the Race Class categories are not based on skin complexion, but is based on national origin.
Additionally, All race Class categories, with the exception of white are deemed as “minorities”, thereby the representation in federal dollars and the representation in advocacy for “minorities” are substantially different to its counterparts who report an entry as “white” or a person having origins in the original people of Europe, the Middle-East or North Africa.
There is an obligation constitutionally to get the proper and correct enumerated race class of all persons counted and equivocally important for the apportioned representation to be cognizant of its constituency that it represents.
Whereas, people who identify as Negro, Colored, Black or African American for the 2020 Census, it is to their own detriment evident by the renewal continuation of a 25 year cycle permitting Blacks or African Americans the privilege to cast a popular ballot under granted privileges (14th & 15th Amendment) as has been the condition for the many existing years and not under the States government free national constitutional law of 1774, that has never been changed, wherein all men are created free and equal.
