Criminal Mischief, Motor Vehicle Theft: Princeton Police Blotter

An unknown person presented fake id to rent a vehicle and then stole it, police said.

PRINCETON, NJ – The Princeton Police Blotter dated July 3 had the following reports:

On June 26 at 09:50 p.m., a person reported that their wallet, its contents and Apple Airpod Pro earbuds were stolen while at work. The total value of the stolen items is approximately $1,018.

On June 27 at 08:13 a.m. a caller told police that an unknown person presented fraudulent identification and information to rent a vehicle from them at State Road. The individual then stole the vehicle after failing to return it.

On June 28 at 9:53 p.m. a resident told police their cellular phone was stolen after it was left in a rideshare vehicle and arrangements were made to meet with the driver to return the phone. The driver failed to return the phone and has ceased contact with the victim.

On June 29, at 1:42 p.m., a resident reported using an online food delivery service to deliver a package of food to their residence on Witherspoon Street. Prior to them picking up the food, an unknown male entered the lobby of the residential complex and stole the package with a value of approximately $50.

On June 30 at 6:52 p.m. a victim reported that their purse and its contents were stolen from the bathroom of a dining establishment on Witherspoon Street. The total value of the stolen items is approximately $5,740.92.

On June 30 at 3:03 p.m., two Pennsylvania residents were found to have shoplifted several items from retail establishments on Palmer Square West. They were placed under arrest, taken to PPD Headquarters where they were processed, charged and released.

on July 1 at 9:15 p.m., a victim reported that their wallet and its contents was stolen from an establishment on Nassau Street. The total value of the stolen items was approximately $35.

On July 2 at 2:20 a.m. following a motor vehicle stop, a 42-year-old Pennington resident was placed under arrest for Driving While Intoxicated. They were transported to PPD Headquarters where they were processed, charged and released.

On July 3 3:40 p.m., following an investigation of a verbal dispute between two parties, a 46-year-old Cranbury man was found to have operated his motor vehicle while intoxicated. During the course of arrest, the man failed to comply with the instructions of the officers and purposely caused damage to a patrol vehicle. He was placed under arrest, taken to PPD Headquarters where he was processed, charged and released.
