Downed Wires, Road Closures, Outages Reported In Princeton

Power has since been restored to residents.

PRINCETON, NJ — Multiple roads are closed and power outages were reported Friday morning in Princeton following a severe wind storm last night.

A tornado warning was issued in Middlesex, Somerset, Mercer and Hunterdon counties on Friday morning. A severe thunderstorm warning was also issued nearly across the state.

Meadowbrook Drive, Library Place and Hodge Road in Princeton were all closed on Friday due to down wires and trees, Princeton Police said.

Drivers were asked to use other roads and avoid the area.

Roughly 1,500 residents were without power in Mercer County Friday morning PSE&G and JCP&L are reporting.

PSE&G reported 29 Princeton residents were without power and 516 Hopewell Township residents. JCP&L reported 703 Hopewell residents are without power.

Power has since been restored.

Photos on social media showed damage that closed streets and major roadways throughout the state.
