Driver Involved In NJ Teen Hit-And-Run Surrenders: Police

Calvin Janicsek of Willingboro surrendered on Monday morning, authorities said. A 17-year-old was seriously injured in the hit-and-run.

MERCER COUNTY, NJ — The driver who hit a teen and fled the scene in Mercer County, turned himself in, Hamilton Police said.

Calvin Janicsek, 22, of Willingboro arrived at the Hamilton Police Headquarters and turned himself in on Monday morning, police said. He told police he was the driver of the vehicle involved in the hit-and-run that seriously injured a teen.

Janicsek was charged with knowingly leaving the scene of an accident resulting in serious bodily injury and endangering an injured victim.

On Sunday, Dec. 5, around 2:17 a.m., a 17-year-old was walking west on Route 33 in the area of Weston Avenue, when he was struck by a vehicle that then fled the scene, police said. The teen was taken to Captial Health Hospital – Fuld with serious injuries. The identity of the victim has not been released.
