Fire Alarm Leads To Arrest Of Princeton Man

Princeton Police also reported a car burglary and making arrests for driving while intoxicated and outstanding warrants recently.

PRINCETON, NJ — An activated fire alarm lead to the arrest of a Princeton local, police reported.

Princeton Police when to the Greenland Court home after an alarm went off on Jan. 18 at 3:02 a.m. A minor smoke condition was cleared.

A resident on scene, Cornelius Toma, Jr., 42, of Princeton was known to have multiple outstanding warrants totaling $7,601.98, police reported.

Toma was placed under arrest for the warrants and additionally charged with possession of heroin and possession of controlled dangerous substance(CDS) paraphernalia.

Toma was later transported to the Mercer County Correctional Facility where he was lodged.

On Jan. 17 at 12:17 a.m.: Subsequent to a motor vehicle stop in the 100 block of Mercer Street for failing to illuminate headlights, Joel Lopez-Lopez, 29, of Trenton was placed under arrest for driving while intoxicated. Lopez-Lopez was later released to a sober adult with a pending court date.

On Jan. 17 at 10:38 a.m.: The victim reported that an unknown actor purposefully damaged their government vehicle while it was parked and unattended in the 300 block of Witherspoon St. A dollar estimate of the damages was unavailable as of press time.

On Jan. 17 at 2:21 p.m.: Subsequent to a motor vehicle stop in the 200 block of Ewing Street for failure to observe red light, Kevin Mendoza, 27, of Hamilton was placed under arrest for having multiple outstanding warrants to his discredit totaling $1,278. Mendoza was later released after his bail was posted with pending court dates.
