First Day Of School, Witherspoon Construction Update: Around Princeton

Here's what to expect as you hit the road in Princeton:

PRINCETON, NJ — Over 3,5000 Princeton students will be heading back to classrooms today for their first day of the new academic year.

At Community Park, Johnson Park, Littlebrook and Riverside, school day begins at 8:25 a.m. daily and finishes at 3 p.m.
Princeton Middle School begins at 8:25 a.m. and ends at 3:10 p.m.
The day at Princeton High School begins at 8:20 a.m. daily and finishes at 3:21 p.m.

There will be no construction on Witherspoon street Tuesday, due to inclement weather.

Work will continue later with demolition and construction of the roadway and sidewalk on the west side and installation of stormwater utilities on Witherspoon street. This work is scheduled to continue through early-mid October. There will be a 4-5 foot walking path nearest the frontage of the businesses for pedestrians.

Wednesday and Thursday, sanitary sewer testing of the main and laterals are scheduled to occur. There should be no disruption to sewer services.

Trash and Recycling collection for businesses on the west side will take place in the designated area on Witherspoon, past the Spring Street Crosswalk. Trash and collection for businesses on the east side should be collected as normal.

Concrete barriers have been installed on Witherspoon Street between Nassau and Spring Street. Motorists should follow the 25 MPH speed limit.
