Leadership student at Stuart creates messages of positivity

Sophomore Angela Cirelli created a six-tile design through the Leadership Through the Lens class

Messages of hope and solidarity have been shared by millions of people around the world during the COVID-19 crisis. Like love, hope is a universal language that has been represented through symbols like rainbows, suns and pictures of the human spirit. Students in Andrew Wilkinson's Leadership Through the Lens class have used their leadership and creative skills to create messages of positivity at a time when we need our community more than ever.

The assignment to create a 6-tile design with positive messages was inspired by Peter Blake, a UK pop artist whose #londonstandstogether rainbow design inspired the placement of rainbows in windows across the city. Sophomore Angela Cirelli approached her project with a global lens: "Since this virus is having such a universal impact, we’re all feeling its effects in different ways. Therefore, I want my series to convey/acknowledge that diversity while having a common thread." Angela's project includes inspirational quotes from leaders from around the world to represent the global impact of the crisis, and her use of similar colors, fonts and backgrounds was to represent our unity.

As you continue to share messages of hope in your text threads and on social media, we encourage you to share Angela's designs as well. Click here to view all six designs.
