Mark Freda Honored by the Princeton Cranbury Chapter NJSAR

PRINCETON, NJ – Lifelong Princeton resident and democratic candidate for Princeton mayor Mark Freda was awarded a Fire Safety Commendation Medal and a Good Citizenship Award from the Princeton Cranbury Chapter of the New Jersey Society of the Sons of the American Revolution (NJSAR) on Sunday, February 16, at its President’s Day luncheon hosted by Leonardo’s II in Brunswick Pike.

“I’m honored to be recognized by this organization,” said Freda. “I’ve dedicated my adult life to giving back to the community that has provided so much to me and my family. The work of this group makes it possible for us all to celebrate and build upon our shared history. Being a small part of this effort has been, and continues to be, a rewarding experience for me.”

The Good Citizenship Medal is an award bestowed by state and local chapters of the National Society of the Sons of the American Revolution (NSSAR) recognizing individuals whose community achievements are noteworthy, celebrating an engaged citizenry and the enlightenment ideals of our founders.

The Fire Safety Commendation Medal is a presented to an individual for accomplishments and outstanding contributions in an area of fire safety, community service, and commitment protect human life and property by preventing injuries or casualties due to fire and chemicals.

“Recognizing Mark Freda with these awards was an easy decision for us,” said NJSAR President Roger S. Williams. “Princeton is blessed to have such a dedicated citizen promoting public health, safety, our fortunes, and the pursuit of happiness; that deserves recognition.”

Freda, who officially announced his candidacy for Princeton mayor in December, is President of the Princeton First Aid & Rescue Squad (PFARS) and a former Princeton Borough councilman, having served five years as Council President. He was also the former Princeton Borough’s first director of emergency services. He currently serves on the board of Dorothea’s House and is co-chair of the Spirit of Princeton, which sponsors the annual Memorial Day parade, the Flag Day ceremony and the Veterans Day ceremony.

The National Society Sons of the American Revolution (NSSAR) is a Congressionally chartered premier lineage society with sixteen U.S. Presidents and twenty-seven Medal of Honor recipient Compatriots on our member rolls. Founded 1889, the NSSAR members are intensely devoted to serving the communities they hail from across all fifty states and in five countries abroad.
