Mercer Co. Teen Was Driving Car He Stole In Home Invasion: Cops

MERCER COUNTY, NJ — A Trenton teen was arrested hours after he broke into a woman's home and stole valuables at gunpoint including her car, Hamilton Police said.

On Monday, officers reached a home at Tindall Avenue on reports of a home invasion. The elderly woman told police that she was awakened by the suspect who had entered the home by pushing the first-floor window air conditioning unit. Once inside, the teen held the woman at gunpoint and stole several valuables, and left with the woman's car, police said.

Later that evening, Kahider Carmichael, 19, was arrested by New Jersey State Police while driving the stolen car in Trenton. He was charged with robbery, burglary and kidnapping.

Carmichael is currently being held at the Mercer County Correctional Facility, awaiting arraignment.
