Mercer County Pedestrian Killed In Route 1 Crash On Sunday

The 64-year-old West Windsor resident was struck while crossing the road, police said.

MERCER COUNTY, NJ — A pedestrian was struck and killed on Route 1 in West Windsor on Sunday just before 6:30 a.m., police said.

A 31-year-old Plainsboro woman was driving a 2015 Nissan Altima on Route 1 near The Square at West Windsor.

The 64-year-old pedestrian was walking west from The Square and entered into the right lane of Route 1 into the direct path of the vehicle, police said.

The man was struck by the car which continued into the shoulder of the roadway and then stopped. Police said the pedestrian was "imbedded” in the car’s windshield and front passenger area. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The identity of the pedestrian and driver have not been released. Quakerbridge Road to Meadow Road was closed for over three hours while police investigated. The investigation is ongoing.
