PRINCETON, NJ – Penn Medicine Princeton Medical Center is seeking to build a six-floor parking garage on campus, according to documents filed in Plainsboro.

The hospital is seeking preliminary and final major site plan approval to build a 1,161 space parking garage and is proposing to construct a temporary lot with 628 parking spaces on campus, according to public documents.

“PMPH is developing a plan for a new cancer center (Cancer Center) as part of the second phase of development of the HMOC site. It has decided to separate this second phase into two site plan applications, one to address the new parking structure (Parking Garage) and one to address the new Cancer Center,” according to a memo.

The garage will be located on the northern side of the campus, where the P6 parking area is, plus a portion of the P5 parking area.

“This area of the campus experiences the highest demand for parking because of the close proximity to the Medical Arts Pavilion and the secondary entrance to the hospital,” according to the memo.

Meanwhile the temporary parking area will be built across Punia Boulevard. This lot will be used by construction personnel and hospital staff.

“After the Cancer Center and Parking Garage are constructed and operational, the temporary parking improvements will be removed and the area restored to its pre-existing condition. It is anticipated that parking in the Temporary Parking Area will continue through early 2027,” according to the memo.

The Plainsboro Planning Board will hear the application on Aug. 21. Click here for application documents.
