Princeton University Discusses 2026 Campus Plan With West Windsor Planning Board

The university would like to create a "sense of place" for students, according to the Princeton Packet.

Princeton, NJ -- Princeton University officials told the West Windsor Planning Board that its long term plans include creating a “sense of place” for students and making people of various backgrounds feel more welcome, the Princeton Packet reports. There is also an aspect of sustainability.

Princeton University owns hundreds of acres of land in West Windsor, according to the report.

Last month, the university said it would like to develop some of that land for housing and a remote parking lot.

University officials appeared before the West Windsor Planning Board on Wednesday night for a courtesy review, according to the report.

Development plans are not immediate, but Lake Carnegie may find itself in the middle of campus should the university move forward with its plans to develop its land in West Windsor.

Its 2026 campus plan also includes the development of the Springdale Golf Course.

Springdale Creek could be restored and developed to feel like a park. It could be used for academic purposes, with some housing mixed in.
