Richard S. Goldman, Esq., Partner, Drinker, Biddle and Reath LLP, will receive the Donald B. Jones Award.
He has presented the award, given to a person or group that embodies D&R Greenway’s mission to inspire a conservation ethic, to many recipients in the past. Goldman is a past Chairman and long-time board member of the D&R Greenway Land Trust.
His vision has guided the Princeton-based organization’s work since its inception as ‘Delaware and Raritan Greenway’ in 1989.
He has given countless hours of pro-bono legal support to secure permanent land preservation, closing nearly 200 of the Greenway’s 260 land transactions.
“Rich’s gifts of expertise, vision and proactive commitment make him the ideal awardee in celebration of our 25th anniversary,” D&R Greenway President and CEO Linda Mead said. “He is a visionary who has led the strategic plan for how and where we preserve land. During his six years as chairman, Rich generously devoted himself to leading D&R Greenway through one of the most significant periods of accomplishment and growth. He gave his time and expertise pro bono to work on the nuts and bolts of acquisitions.”
At the Gala, D&R Greenway is recognizing the following Partners in Preservation:
* Betty Wold Johnson, a landowner and philanthropist, is being honored for significant contributions to land preservation that impact the Hopewell and Princeton communities. Her personal commitment has enhanced the future of Hopewell.
* The East Amwell Farmland and Open Space Committee, represented by long-time dedicated volunteers Glorianne Robbi and Dick Ginman, is being honored for significant contributions to preserving their community’s environment through volunteer leadership for more than 20 years.
* Bristol-Myers Squibb has earned the Business Partner in Preservation award. A model for good community citizenship, Bristol-Myers Squibb’s contributions have been critical to preservation of Carson Road Woods in Lawrence Township, as well as St. Michaels Farm Preserve in Hopewell. Co-leader of the Lawrence Hopewell Trail, Bristol-Myers Squibb is connecting people to the land and inspiring a conservation ethic.
* Donald B. Jones (1911-1994) was a determined preservationist who spent his time and resources saving the land and historic buildings that give the region its special character. D&R Greenway presents an annual award to a recipient who has displayed a similar selfless generosity, making a significant important on our landscape.
