Reputed Mobster Killed During Home Invasion/Robbery: Prosecutor

Two Burlington County residents were arrested in connection with the death of Michael DiMattia on Tuesday.

Convicted killer and reputed mobster Michael DiMattia was apparently shot to death during a home invasion and robbery last week.

The two Burlington County residents, who made off with $18,000 from the 53-year-old DiMattia’s Estates Boulevard apartment, were captured on Tuesday, Acting Mercer County Prosecutor Angelo J. Onofri and Hamilton Police Chief James W. Collins said.

Marcus L. Muse, 23, of Willingboro, and Tatiana S. Cole, 23, of Pemberton, were arrested Monday morning at a hotel in Mount Holly by members of the Mercer County Homicide Task Force and the U.S. Marshals NY/NJ Regional Fugitive Task Force.

Investigators executed a search warrant in the suspects’ room and allegedly recovered a gun consistent with the weapon used in the murder.

Muse and Cole are each charged with murder, felony murder, robbery, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose and unlawful possession of a weapon.

Muse and Cole allegedly planned to rob DiMattia’s apartment on Estates Boulevard on Thursday, March 17. During the alleged robbery attempt, they allegedly shot DiMattia twice before escaping with $18,000, police said.

Hamilton Township Police discovered the body of 53-year-old DiMattia inside his apartment just after 7 a.m.after receiving a 9-1-1 call.

Bail for Muse was set at $1 million, and bail for Cole was set at $500,000, with no court appearances scheduled.

The charges are a result of an investigation by homicide task force detectives, specifically lead investigator Adrian Markowski of the Robbinsville Township Police Department, with assistance from Hamilton Police Detectives Mark Watson and Frank Burger.
